What’s up with Keystone? Give me the perspective of a team rider. What’s it like
being part of the Keystone team?
Keystone’s doing great, for only being around for a year we’ve really been making some waves here on the east coast. I was actually one of the first people involved with Keystone before we even had decks, and it’s just been crazy to see the company grow and change and move in the right direction. Being apart of the Keystone team has been alot of fun. We’ve been doing alot of travelling, and demos and such, and thats been a blast. There’s definatley some characters on the team aswell, and wether it be out at the spots, or back at the hotel theres usually some kind of crazy nonsense going on. Be sure to check out the new website at www.keystoneskateboards.com and be on the look out for the keystone crew coming to a town near you this november when we do the 2009 fall gnarvest tour.
What is your personal goal in skatebaording? Are you someone who aspires to become one of the bigger names or are you just out there to have a good time? Or Both?
First and foremost to have a good time. Skateboarding all I’ve known for the past eleven years, it’s always gonna be apart of me. I don’t really see myself ever making it as a big time name or anything but I would in my own way like to leave some kind of mark on skateboarding even if it’s just by making friends, or giving a kid their first deck and turning them onto skating. I’ve met alot of people and had alot of good times, so really im just looking to kind of build on that and see where it takes me.
Favorite skateboarder who is no longer with us?
would have loved to see what shane cross could have came up with for the new flip video. Truly a talent lost. I’d have to say either him or Keenan Milton.
What’s your setup right now?
7.75″ Keystone hesh jesus deck, a pair of generic trucks i was givin to test for free, blsck panthers, and some worn rictas.
Favorite Wu Tang Member and Why?
As much as I love ghostface I’m gonna have to go with Method Man. The dude does it all. He has multiple albums and a movie that I could probably quote in their entirety. That’s quite an accomplishment.
Rodney vs. Daewon?
That’s like comparing apples to oranges. I like things that are diffrent and both of them skate so ridiculous. If i had to pick I’d say Daewon though, He takes the tech tricks to some really intresting spots and the result is epic.
Kanye vs. Taylor Swift?
Gotta go with Taylor Swift on this one, she actually grew up where I’m from. Kanye is really losin it, I wouldn’t be suprised seeing him being the next whacko jacko.
Best skatespot in PA?
Can’t pinpoint an exact best spot, but the streets of Philadelphia and it’s surrounding areas are like a huge urban playground where theres always a spot as long as your being creative.
Who do you think is going to really blow up out of PA?
Another Reading local, Kyle Nicholson. The kid is killing it. He just had an axion commercial up on skateboarding.com. go check that out. Oh and the berrics part he did. Bangin!
Chaz ortiz had an interview in DUB magazine a few months back. What do you think
about a skateboarder who’s too young to drive being interviewed in a car mag?
At one time that may have sounded as absurd as a skateboarding related reality tv show, but here we are. Skateboarders are ending up everywhere, get used to it. Did you see Mike Vallely in Paul Blart: Mall Cop? He was skating after someone brandishing a pistol……. priceless just like in the hood.
Who or what has helped you out the most in skateboarding?
I’d like to thank my family, and friends for all their help over the years. Also a big thanks to some of the people who played a major role getting me where I am today, Frank Fields, Teffy D, Ronnnie Gordon, dan scott, all the shops that have ever hooked me up and anyone I’ve skated with whose helped push me all these years.
